Costume Design
A combination of artistic concepts and design, Rowan Leckie’s costume work blends fashion and art into 3D wearable forms. Created during her four years of study at Edinburgh College of Art, these works culminated in her 2019 degree showcase.

The first images feature her final year project: a plant-grafted design that explores themes of family inheritance. This piece builds a whimsical structure from sheer materials, reflecting personal narratives in a playful yet poignant visual form.

Additional designs include:

  • A Reimagining of Hitchcock’s The Birds: Inspired by the late 1950s and early 1960s silhouettes, these costumes use wools and mohairs in bright pastels, paying homage to the original film while creating a heightened, bird-nested aesthetic.

  • Latex Rubber Experiment: A tactile exploration using latex to collect and trap mould, resulting in skin-like textiles that challenge the boundaries of materiality and texture.
